Chronic deciduitis is chronic inflammation of the decidua attached to the basal plate of the placenta.
Histologic features of chronic deciduitis: >= 50 lymphocytes per high field (hpf) in >= 1 hpf
Histologic features of plasma cell deciduitis: >= 5 plasma cells per high power field
The extent of the chronic inflammation can be graded:
(1) focal
(2) multifocal
(3) diffuse
The severity of the inflammation may be designated:
(1) mild
(2) moderate
(3) severe
