Description

A helicopter rotor blade is a source of serious and often fatal injuries.


Risk factors for helicopter rotor blade injury:

(1) someone new and unfamiliar with helicopters

(2) helicopter pilots

(3) ground crew

(4) blade failure

(5) helicopter collision

 

Protective factors:

(1) helmet

(2) adequate training

 

Most injuries are to the head followed by chest and abdomen.
