Description

Zappitelli et al reported an equation for estimating glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in pediatric patients that is not dependent on height. It was modeled on the equation from British Columbia Children's Hospital (BCCH, Mattman et al). The authors are from McGill University and Montreal Children's Hospital in Canada.

Patient selection: pediatric (7.3 to 16.5 years in study)

Parameters:

(1) serum creatinine in µmol/L

(2) age in years

(3) sex (1 if male, 0 if female)

LN(GFR) = X =

= 8.067 + (1.034 * LN(1/(serum creatinine))) + (0.305 * LN(age in years)) + (0.064 *(points for sex))

GFR in mL per min per 1.73 square meters =

= EXP(X)
