Potential problems:
(1) disruptive behavior, including verbal abuse, physical assault and air rage
(2) difficulty responding in an emergency, especially if near an emergency exit door
(3) injury to self or others when trying to walk around in the plane
(4) vomiting or choking on food
(5) disregard for safety instructions such as wearing of seat belts
(6) increased risk of experiencing jet lag
(7) trying to drive after arriving at destination
A person who is more likely to drink:
(1) a person in first class with unlimited drinks
(2) an alcoholic
(3) a person who is anxious about flying (who is attempting self-medication)
(4) someone who is going to or coming from a party, especially when in a group
(5) someone who finds that drinking makes flying more enjoyable
(6) someone who was drinking prior to getting onboard the flight
(7) on a a long flight
(8) someone who is allowed to have another drink despite appearing intoxicated
Risk factors for a problem:
(1) excessive drinking
(2) combination with drug misuse
(3) still intoxicated at destination (especially if driving)
(4) anger about something, real or perceived
(5) another passenger pushing back
