Description

While solar panels can be a source of electricity they do come with their share of problems.

Hazards and problems associated with solar panels:

(1) installation hazards, such as when placed on a roof

(2) cost of installation and maintenance

(3) economic cost for repairs if damaged (hail, flying debris, etc)

(4) electric shock

(5) damage to the electrical systems in a building

(6) cost of recycling or disposal

(7) fire

(8) dislocation in high winds or bad weather

(9) cuts and injuries when repairing damage

While some insurance policies may cover the cost of repairing damaged solar panels, some policies do not, placing the cost on the building owner.

Because solar panels only provide electricity when the sun is shining, either backup or an alternative energy source is required.
