Description

Shott evaluated the size of an endotracheal tube needed for the airway of a child with Down's syndrome. The selection of the correct size can reduce injury to the child's airway. The author is from Children's Hospital in Cincinnati.


 

The internal diameter of the endotracheal tube for a child with Down's Syndrome should be 0.5 to 1.0 mm less than that for a normal child.
