Grazing (nibbling, snack eating) is an eating behavior with certain characteristics.
Grazing can be defined as:
(1) an eating behavior
(2) repetitive eating (>= 3) episodes of small or modest amounts of food
(3) unplanned (unscheduled)
Grazing can be seen in patients:
(1) after bariatric surgery
(2) with benign partial gastric outlet obstruction
(3) with an eating disorder (anorexia, bulimia)
(4) trying to live more healthy (intentional)
Grazing may:
(1) be compulsive or noncompulsive
(2) involve healthy (fruits and vegetables) or unhealthy foods
