Agglutination in an affinity gel microtube can be graded based on the distribution of red cells relative to the gel.

Grade

only a layer of agglutinated cells on the top of the gel media

4+

agglutinated cells dispersed near the top of the gel media

3+

agglutinated cells dispersed through the entire length of the gel media

2+

agglutinated cells dispersed in the gel media near the bottom of the column

1+

only a button of unagglutinated cells in the bottom of the tube

negative

layer of agglutinated cells on the top of the gel media, AND a button of unagglutinated cells in the bottom of the tube

mixed field
