Description

Valent et al described a grading scale for symptoms associated with mastocytosis in the skin (MIS). This can help to monitor a patient over time and to assess the response to therapy. The authors are from multiple universities in North America and Europe.


 

Skin-related symptoms:

(1) pruritis

(2) flushing

(3) blistering or bullae

mild, infrequent, requires no therapy

mild to moderate, frequent, controlled with therapy

2

severe, frequent, difficult to control

3

severe, requiring hospitalization

4

 

A Grade 4 symptom is referred to as severe adverse event (SAE).
