Grades of Dennis et al for Traumatic Abdominal Wall Defects (TAWD)

Dennis et al reported a grading system for abdominal wall defects after blunt trauma. The authors are from the University of Oklahoma.

Patient selection: blunt trauma to the abdominal wall

Parameters:

(1) contusion

(2) hematoma

(3) muscle disruption

NA	NA	complete wall with herniation of abdominal contents	V

The higher the grade the more complex the surgical repair.
