Neisseria gonorrhoeae can infect Tyson glands, causing tysonitis.
Tyson's glands are a pair of sebaceous glands on the penis, located on either side of the frenum/frenulum. They secrete smegma.
One or both glands may become infected.
The lesions are tender and filled with pus.
A lesion can evolve into an abscess with or without a sinus.
A Gram stain of fluid from the glands show pus and Gram-negative diplococci.
The patient may also have:
(1) gonococcal urethritis
(2) a periurethral abscess
