Self-Reported Global Rating of Change (GROC)

A self-reported global rating of change (GROC) can be used by a patient to describe his or her health status compared to previous levels.

mild to moderate deterioration	-3
mild deterioration	-2
slightly worse	-1
unchanged	0
slightly better	+1
mild improvement	+2
mild to moderate improvement	+3
moderately better	+4
quite a bit better	+5
a great deal better	+6
very great deal better	+7

A score of +6 or +7 indicates a large improvement. A score of –6 or –7 indicates a major deterioraton.

A score of +4 or +5 indicates a moderate change. A score of –4 or –5 indicates a moderate deterioration.

A score of –1, 0 or +1 indicates no change.
