The presence of hair growing out of the gingiva is a rare phenomenon. A similar condition can affect the tongue.
Possible explanations for a hair follicle in the gingiva:
(1) heterotopia of a hair follicle with or without sebaceous glands
(2) teratoma
Situations that may exacerbate:
(1) excessive testosterone with hypertrichosis
Differential diagnosis:
(1) trichophagia
