Description

The Growth Hormone 2000 (GH-2000) score was developed to detect recent growth hormone misuse by an athlete. Both insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) and type III procallagen (P-III-P) are markers of growth hormone misuse that can help to identify a cheat.

Parameters:

(1) gender

(2) age in years

(3) insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) in ng/mL

(4) type III procollagen (P-III-P) in U/mL

score for a male =

= (2.905 * LN(P-III-P)) + (2.1 * LN(IGF-I)) - (101.737 / (age)) - 6.586

score for a female =

= (2.454 * LN(P-III-P)) + (2.195 * LN(IGF-I)) - (73.666 / (age)) - 8.459

Interpretation:

• A preliminary cutoff is 3.7, with a score > 3.7 indicating recent GH use.

The assay for measuring IGF-I was discontinued. It is necessary to convert values determined by other assays to approximate the value from this assay. A similar conversion is used if an alternative assay for P-III-P is used.

adjusted GH2000 IGF-I concentration in ng/mL =

= (0.66 * (DSL IGF-1 assay value)) =

= (11.37 * (Italan Mediagnost IGF-I)) - 6.07

adjusted GH2000 P-III-P in U/mL =

= (0.1 * (Italan Orion P-III-P value in ng/mL))
