Description

Alrezk et al reported the Geriatric-Sensitive Perioperative Cardiac Risk Index (GCSRI) for an older adult undergoing noncardiac surgery. This can help to identify a patient who may benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).

Patient selection: >= 65 years of age

Outcome: myocardial infarction or cardiac arrest (MICA)

Parameters:

(1) stroke

(2) ASA class

(3) surgical category

(4) functional status

(5) serum creatinine in mg/dL

(6) history of congestive heart failure

(7) diabetes mellitus
