Description

Rozzini et al reported the Geriatric Index of Comorbidity (GIC) which is based on conditions common in the elderly. The authors are from Poliambulanza Hospital and IRCCS S. Giovanni de Dio-FBF, I Fraticini Hospital in Italy and NIA (Bethesda).


Patient selection: older adult (>= 60 years)

 

Parameters:

(1) ischemic or organic heart disease

(2) primary arrhythmia

(3) nonischemic or nonorganic heart disease

(4) hypertension

(5) stroke

(6) peripheral vascular disease

(7) diabetes mellitus

(8) anemia

(9) gastrointestinal disease

(10) hepatobiliary disease

(11) renal disease

(12) respiratory disease

(13) Parkinsonism/nonvascular neurologic disease

(14) musculoskeletal disorders

(15) malignancy
