Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) can occur in the genital, perineal and peri-anal regions.

Clinical features:

(1) abscesses

(2) sinus tract formation

(3) scarring


Hurley Stage

Clinical Features

Stage I

>= 1 abscess; no sinus tract; no scarring

Stage II

recurrent abscess; sinus tract and/or scarring

Stage III

diffuse abscess formation, sinus tracts and scarring



(1) pain

(2) disfigurement

(3) damage to genital organs

(4) psychological reaction

(5) cancer, typically squamous cell carcinoma

(6) fistula formation

(7) lymphedema
