Description

A male with Behcet's disease may develop genital lesions.


 

Genital lesions in a patient with Behcet's disease:

(1) ulcerations on the penis and/or scrotum

(2) ulcerations in adjacent skin (perineum, perianal, inguinal region)

(3) genital scars (associated with healed ulcers)

(4) tender nodule that becomes ulcerated

 

Diagnostic features:

(1) recurrent episodes of ulceration with a tendency to scar

(2) lesions are unresponsive to therapy for infectious diseases

(3) other signs of Behcet's disease (oral ulcerations, cutaneous involvement, etc)

(4) exclusion of other causes of genital lesions (unless concurrent conditions)
