Gelatophobia may:

(1) be associated with being bullied

(2) be associated with paranoia if there are ideas of reference (any laughter is being directed against the person)

(3) be associated with low self-esteem or feelings of inferiority

(4) cause the person to avoid situations where there is a possibility of being ridiculed

 

Gelatophilia may:

(1) be associated with extroversion

(2) view laughter as positive and not directed against the person

(3) be self-abusive if the person will go to any lengths to get a laugh

(4) be seen in comics

 

Katagelasticism may:

(1) be abusive and bullying when it is used to ridicule

(2) be passive-aggressive

(3) be used to demonstrate superiority

(4) be associated with being a psychopath
