Description

The Fresno-Quebec dislocation rule is a modification of the Quebec rule for anterior shoulder dislocation. Its use can reduce the number of pre-reduction radiographs significantly. The authors are from Universite Laval Quebec, University of California San Francisco-Fresno and UCLA.


Patient selection: probable anterior shoulder dislocation in the Emergency Department

 

Parameters:

(1) atraumatic, recurrent shoulder dislocation

(2) age of the patient in years

(3) high-risk mechanism of trauma

 

High-risk mechanism of injury:

(1) motor vehicle accident

(2) assault

(3) sports-related

(4) fall > 10 feet
