Factors affecting the formulation:
(1) route of administration (oral, intravenous, intramuscular, transdermal, etc)
(2) liquid vs dry
The elements of a drug formulation may include:
(1) the drug compound
(2) preservatives
(3) stabilizers and buffers
(4) release and absorption modifiers (rapid vs slow vs time-released)
(5) distribution modifiers (liposomes for an intravenous drug)
(6) metabolism modifiers (usually an inhibitor)
(7) fillers or dilutions
