Hoek et al developed an equation for estimating glomerular filtration rate (GFR) for adults using cystatin C. The authors are from the University of Amsterdam.
Parameters:
(1) cystatin C in mg/L determined by a particle-enhanced immunonephelometric method (Dade-Behring) with a normal reference range of 0.5 to 0.96 mg/L.

Performance:
• The reference GFR was determined by 125I-iothalamate.
