Filler and Lepage developed an equation for predicting the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) for a pediatric patient. The authors are from the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario and the University of Ottowa.
Patient selection: pediatric patients from 1 to 18 years
Parameter:
(1) serum cystatin C in mg/L (N Latex Cystatin C kit, Dade Behring)
LOG10(GFR) =
= 1.962 + (1.123 * LOG10(1 / (cystatin C)))
When rearranged this becomes:
GFR in mg per min per 1.73 square m BSA =
= 91.62 / ((cystatin C)^1.123)
