Description

The Food Intake Level Scale (FILS) can be used to describe a patient's usual nutritional intake. It can be used to evaluate a patient with dysphagia or a gastrointestinal disorder. It has been used primarily in Japan.

(6) easy-to-swallow food supplemented by alternative nutrition

(5) easy-to-swallow food for 1 or 2 meals with remainder alternative nutrition

(4) easy-to-swallow food for less than 1 meal with remainder alternative nutrition

(3) no oral intake with swallowing training with small amount of food

(2) no oral intake with swallowing training without food

(1) no oral intake and no swallowing training with or without oral care
