Certain observations may indicate that a roof is about to collapse from an accumulation of snow and ice.
Findings that may indicate that the roof is under excessive stress:
(1) visible sagging of the roof
(2) roof supports that are bowing, cracking or splitting
(3) distorted door frames, making the door difficult to open or impossible to close
(4) distorted window frames, making the window difficult to open
(5) displacement of pipes and fixtures running along the ceiling
(6) unusual sounds such as creaking, cracking or popping
(7) sudden appearance of leaks in the ceiling
