Description

The corpora cavernosa may show focal or diffuse fibrosis. This may also result in fibrosis of the arterial walls.


Causes may include:

(1) trauma

(2) ischemia secondary to atherosclerosis

(3) ischemia secondary to vasculitis

(4) inflammation (infection, other)

(5) microemboli or thrombosis

(6) penoscrotal lymphedema

(7) status post intracavernosal injections

 

Consequences:

(1) erectile dysfunction

(2) deformity

 

Differential diagnosis:

(1) Peyronie's disease with fibrosis of the tunica albuginea
