Description

Hsieh et al reported the FibroQ score for predicting significant hepatic fibrosis in a patient with chronic viral hepatitis. The authors are from Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Chang Gung University, Chang Gung Institute of Technology, and Diwan College of Management in Taiwan.

Patient selection: chronic viral hepatitis

Parameters:

(1) age in years

(2) serum AST in IU/L

(3) INR

(4) platelet count in 10^3 per microliter

(5) serum ALT in IU/L

FibroQ =

= 10 * (age) * (AST) * (INR) / ((platelet count) * (ALT))

Interpretation:

• In the original study the FibroQ ranged from 0.328 to 10.155.

FibroQ

Significant Fibrosis

< 0.6

no

0.6 to 1.6

indeterminate

> 1.6

yes

> 2.6

cirrhosis present

Performance:

• The area under the ROC curve for Stage 4 fibrosis (F4) was 0.79.

• The area under the ROC curve for Stage 2 to 4 fibrosis (F2 to F4) was 0.78.
