Description

Fibrofog refers to perceived cognitive dysfunction in a patient with fibromyalgia.


Patient selection: fibromyalgia

 

Features:

(1) self-perception of cognitive impairment

(2) fluctuatng alterations in subjective and objective cognitive function, including working memory

(3) worse performance in cognitive tests

 

Common complaints include:

(1) difficulty concentrating

(2) difficulty remembering

(3) impaired use of language

(4) reduced ability to multi-task

(5) difficulty organizing information

 

The impairment may be severe enough to be disabling.

 

The diagnosis should exclude other causes of cognitive impairment (medications, depression, etc).
