A number of clinical findings may help to distinguish between autonomic and baroreflex failure.
Features of autonomic failure:
(1) supine hypertension
(2) orthostatic hypotension
(3) postprandial hypotension
Features of baroreflex failure:
(1) labile/volatile hypertension
(2) episodic tachycardia
