Familicide-suicide occurs when a person kills multiple family members then commits suicide.
People likely to commit familicide-suicide:
(1) young male who is jealous and/or angry with spouse
(2) male suffering severe depression precipitated by severe stress, often economic
(3) female suffering severe depression and salvation fantasies
The perpetrator:
(1) is usually delusional
(2) feels loss of control and impending doom
(3) may feel a sense of ownership (proprietariness) over other family members
(4) may want to protect the family from an impending disaster
(5) may have a past history of suicide attempts
The perpetrator:
(1) often has a history of being a good citizen
(2) may not have a history of violence
(3) is usually not drunk or abusing drugs during the event
(4) may plan in advance
