Description

The FADIO-COMPLIMED scores can help to measure the complexity of patients admitted to an internal medicine ward. The authors are from multiple institutions in Italy including the FADOI Foundation.

Complimed may be for complexity of internal medicine.

Patient selection: inpatient adult on an internal medicine ward, age > 40 with >= 2 chronic diseases on admission

Parameters:

(1) Barthel index, from 0 (totally dependent) to 100 (normal function)

(2) Exton-Smith score for pressure ulcer risk, from 5 to 20

value of X =

= 100 - (Barthel index)

value of Y =

= (20 - (Exton Smith score)) / 15 * 100

FCS-1 =

= (X + Y) / 2

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0 (best)

• maximum score: 100 (worst)

• An increase in the score is associated with increased mortality.
