Moulaert et al evaluated factors affecting the quality of life for a survivor of an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. A patient with one or more of these factors should have an evaluation of life quality. The authors are from Maastricht University and Oxford Centre for Enablement.

Consequences of the cardiac arrest: anoxic brain damage
Factors that can negatively impact the quality of life:
(1) post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
(2) anxiety and/or depression
(3) fatigue
(4) impairment in activities of daily life (and physical disabilities)
(5) cognitive impairment
