A significant percent of patients with macular disease have an unsatisfactory experience while receiving healthcare.

Factors associated with negative experiences:

(2) lack of emotional support or caring on the part of the healthcare provider

(3) negative attitude towards the patient shown by the consultant

(4) little if any information provided about the condition or troubling symptoms

(5) little if any explanation of therapeutic options or things that might help, especially being told that nothing could be done

(6) lack of time with the consultant

(7) inability to ask questions

(8) difficulty in getting in to see the consultant

(9) being immediately discharged by the consultant after the visit
