(2) high number of sex partners

(3) history of recent bacterial sexually transmitted disease

(4) no or inconsistent condom use

(5) commercial sex work

(6) in a high-prevalence area or network of people

Risk factors associated with injection drug use:

(1) HIV-positive injecting partner (may be known or unsuspected)

(2) sharing of injection equipment (also reuse)

(3) injecting drugs despite recent drug abuse treatment

Other people may be at risk for HIV:

(1) exposure to blood or body fluids of an HIV-positive person with uncovered, broken skin (health care, emergency services, tattoo artist, boxer)
