The satisfaction of a cancer patient with the management being delivered may be affected by a number of factors. Low patient satisfaction can negatively impact compliance and outcomes.
Factors associated with lower levels of satisfaction in a patient who is being treated for cancer:
(1) young adult
(2) female gender
(3) marital status single
(4) depression and/or anxiety
(5) distress
(6) fatalistic
(7) lower fighting spirit
(8) feeling left out of the decision-making process
(9) feeling that the family has been left out of the decision-making process
(10) unmet expectations
(11) unmet needs for encouragement
(12) unmet cultural concerns
