Once leukemic cells have been determined to be negative with peroxidase, Sudan Black B and esterase stains, a further battery of stains can be used to characterize the leukemic process.
Panel of stains:
(1) terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (Tdt)
(2) myeloid antigen (CD11)
(3) toluidine blue (TB, stains granules in basophils and mast cells)
(4) platelet antigen (CD41)
(5) red blood cell antigen (RC 82.4)
