A patient with enuresis may undergo several forms of abuse.
Types of abuse:
(1) physical
(2) verbal
(3) emotional
(4) sexual
(5) medical neglect
In some patients the enuresis is triggered by sexual abuse. These patients may also have other emotional or behavioral disturbances.
In a study in Brazil 88% of nonsexual abuse was done by the mother.
The risk of abuse may be higher for poorly educated parents or based on culture.
