Description

Beta-trace protein (BTP) can be used to estimate the glomerular filtration rate (GFR). This may be particularly useful in renal transplant patients treated with corticosteroids, for whom cystatin C may not be reliable.

Normal reference range for BTP: 0.40 – 0.74 mg/L

If BTP is plotted vs GFR in JMP:

GFR in mL per min per 1.73 square meter BSA =

= (144.14406 / ((BTP)^4)) – (99.7429 / ((BTP)^2)) + 47.206451

GFR in mL per min per 1.73 square meter BSA =

= (401.66704 / ((BTP)^2)) – (501.2114 / ((BTP)) + 186.44196
