Description

 


Huguier described a deformity of the genitalia caused by an unknown sexually-transmitted disease (STD), using the term esthiomene to distinguish it from more common conditions.

 

Clinical features:

(1) leaden or violaceous color

(2) hypertrophy, thickening and induration

(3)) variable ulceration

(4) deformity with or without urethral stricture

(5) absence of pain or tenderness

 

Conditions associated with esthiomene:

(1) lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV)

(2) possibly granuloma inguinale

 

Exclusions:

(1) cutaneous tuberculosis (lupus vulgaris)

(2) syphilis

(3) CLL or other lymphoproliferative disorder

(4) other malignancy
