Description

Chang et al studied erectile dysfunction in males with primary hyperaldosteronism. The authors are from multiple institutions in Taiwan.

Patient selection: male with primary hyperaldosteronism

Risk factors for erectile dysfunction:

(1) increasing age

(2) duration of the elevation in serum aldosterone

(3) hypertension and/or antihypertensive drugs

(4) cortisol or aldosterone deficiency after adrenalectomy

(5) other comorbid causes of ED (diabetes, etc)

Erectile dysfunction progressed after adrenalectomy for adrenal adenoma but not with mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist therapy.
