Yazdani et al reported several equations related to bone mineral density in women. One equation predicts the T score for the spine. The authors are from Shaheed Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran.
Patient selection: adult women (minimum around 40)
Outcome: referral for bone mineral density testing
Parameters (based on those used for the hip T-score):
(1) age in years
(2) weight in kilograms
(3) menopause
(4) history of fracture (wrist, hip, vertebrae)
(5) oral contraceptive therapy
(6) regular exercise (> 30 minutes per day for >= 3 days per week)
