van Dommelen et al proposed equations for estimating a child's adult height in The Netherlands based on parental height. The equations adjust for a number of factors and are more accurate for this population. The authors are from TNO Leiden and Utrecht University in The Netherlands.

target height for a boy in cm =
= (0.376 * (paternal height)) + (0.411 * (maternal height)) + 44.5
target height for a girl in cm =
= (0.334 * (paternal height)) + (0.364 * (maternal height)) + 47.1
If the father's height is not known then the following equations can be used:

target height for a girl in cm =
= (0.436 * (maternal height)) + 96.3
