Description

Sabbagha et al reported equations for estimating the fetal weight of preterm and term pregnancies. The authors are from Northwestern University in Chicago.

Patient selection: preterm or term pregnancy, with ultrasonography performed within 7 days of delivery

Parameters:

(1) gestational age in weeks (GA)

(2) head circumference in cm (HC)

(3) abdominal circumference in cm (AC)

(4) femur length in cm (FL)

score =

= (GA) + (HC) + (2*(AC)) + (FL)

estimated fetal weight for an appropriate-for-gestational age fetus =

= (0.25838 * ((score)^2)) - (16.35 * (score)) -55.3

estimated fetal weight for a small-for-gestational age fetus =

= (0.37721 * ((score)^2)) - (47.13 * (score)) + 1849.4
