Description

Hauser et al estimated the height (stature) of adults from Poland based on the length of the femur. The authors are from Medical University of Gdansk, the Kashubian Research Teaching-Services Centre in Gdynia, and Prof Dr Jan Sehn Institute of Forensic Research in Cracov, Poland.

Subjects: male and female adult Poles

Measurement of femur: rectilinear distance between the top of the head and the furthest point of the paracentral condyle

Parameters:

(1) length of left femur in mm

(2) length of right femur in mm

(3) average of the lengths for both the left and right femurs in mm

height of adult male in mm =

= (2.89 * (length of right femur in mm)) + 383.16

= (2.88 * (length of right femur in mm)) + 385.37

= (2.90 * (average length of the left and right femur in mm)) + 375.96

height of adult female in mm =

= (2.68 * (length of right femur in mm)) + 471.25

= (2.42 * (length of right femur in mm)) + 576.93

= (2.59 * (average length of the left and right femur in mm)) + 508.15
