Description

Garmendia et al reported equations for estimating the height of an adult Mexican from long bone measurements. The authors are from Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico.

Subjects: from 19 to 91 years old

Height range for males: 144.2 to 178.0 cm

Height range for females: 140.0 to 169.8 cm

Measurements of long bones:

(1) humerus in cm

(2) femur in cm

(3) tibia in cm

height in cm for male =

= (3.5756 * (length of humerus)) + 51.6404

= (2.4211 * (length of femur)) + 58.5371

= (2.7730 * (length of tibia)) + 62.1694

height in cm for female =

= (4.2294 * (length of humerus)) + 29.2104

= (3.1379 * (length of femur)) + 25.7316

= (3.0067 * (length of tibia)) + 51.5941
