Description

Brown et al developed several equations for predicting the red cell volume in adult females. The authors are from the University of California San Francisco and University of California at Berkeley.

NOTE: The authors are the same as in the previous section.

Subjects were adult females mostly in their 20's and 30's.

red cell volume in mL =

= (14.64 * (body height in cm)) - 957

red cell volume in mL =

= (18.26 * (body weight in kg)) + 409

red cell volume in mL =

= (7.49 * (height in cm)) + (14.32 * (weight in kg)) - 603

red cell volume in mL =

= (1138 * (BSA in square meter)) -397

Performance:

• The standard deviation ranged from 134 to 153 mL

• The coefficient of variation ranged from 9.1% to 10.4%
