Alameri et al developed equations for predicting the six minute walking distance (6MWD) in healthy Arab adults. The authors are from King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Patient selection: healthy Arab adults from 16 to 50 years of age
Parameters:
(1) age in years
(2) height in centimeters
predicted distance in meters =
= (2.81 * (height in cm)) + (0.79 * (age)) - 28.5
Other models that were tested (Troosters, Enright, Camarri, etc) tended to overestimate the actual 6MWD.
