Description

Aadland et al reported equations for predicting peak VO2 for pediatric patients based on prformance of the Andersen aerobic fitness test. The authors are from Western Norway University of Applied Sciences.


Test: Andersen aerobic fitness test (10 minutes long, intermittent running of a 20 meter course)

 

Subjects: pediatric patients from 10 to 16 years of age

 

Parameters:

(1) Andersen distance in meters

(2) body mass index in kg per square meter

(3) age in years

(4) sex

 

peak VO2 in mL per kg per min for a male =

= (0.0397 * (Andersen distance)) - (0.1698 * (BMI)) + 27.1689

= (0.0427 * (Andersen distance)) - (0.8553 * (age)) + 26.4523

 

peak VO2 in mL per kg per min for a female =

= (0.0309 * (Andersen distance)) - (0.2351 * (BMI)) + 32.5793

= (0.0363* (Andersen distance)) - (1.073 * (age)) + 29.8705
