Description

Vergunst et al reported an equation for predicting the 1-year glomerular filtration rate for a patient with ANCA-associated glomerulonephritis. Renal function at the time of biopsy is the best predictor for renal function in 1 year. The authors are from Leiden University Medical Center in The Netherlands.

Patient selection: ANCA-associated glomerulonephritis (Wegener's granulomatosis, microscopic polyangiitis, idiopathic rapidly progressive GN without immune deposits)

Parameters:

(1) GFR at baseline (using Cockcroft equation)

(2) glomerular features on histology

(3) fibrinoid necrosis

(4) age in years
