Tradewell et al reported an equation based on serum follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) for predicting azoospermia in an infertile male. This can help to guide patient management. The authors are from the University of Miami, Universita Vita-Salute San Raffaele in Milan and University of Illinois at Chicago.

(1) serum FSH in IU/L (normal 1.5 to 7.6 IU/L)

Performance:

• The area under the ROC curve was 0.71 to 0.78 depending on the population.

• R-squared is 0.95.
